Ever more difficult to find for you, this is a late 1800s to as late as perhaps 1910 smoker's stand or box. Tall at nearly 12", big container within, under that hinged top. A wildlife mountaintop scene with eagle up top, wings unfurled and diving for the young kid chamois goat standing by the side of its mother. Nicely carved, it's price though to consider the few little imperfections we've pointed out. Measurements are noted on the photos, and it's got a nice large base for stability even when the top is tipped back for access. Match holder is the little open stump to the side. This one is signed by the carver, which is also rare to find. "Gabriel F" from the look of it. I've captured that for your view, as well - there on bottom.
Very good condition for age and type. This one is not perfect, but it's one that will display well even as it is, or is one without a lot of complicated restoration. An ear, a horn, and a beak on the eagle - all can be cosmetically repaired with a little talent and some wood fill built up over the support of added small nail or screw. A bit of wing loss, but it displays well with that. I've tried to show you the worst angles of view, for your own review. Measurements are noted directly on our photos.
