Well listed artist, I've added 4 auction references in our photos for review. Alfred MARTIN is an artist born in Belgium in 1888 and deceased in 1950. The artist's works have gone up for sale at public auction 336 times, mostly in the Painting category. Most are smallish intimate paintings similar in size to this one. The palette and work in general are superb, evoking a calm yet colorful street scene with buildings and haunting light. Framed more recently, the frame is not antique but suits the painting well for display. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition throughout, no loss to the oil painting, and frame in newer and excellent. The oil painting is worked on board, so no canvas loss or damage. I find no paint losses and the artist's signature is found lower right. Estimating the painting c.1920s. Intimate size for grouping, or bookshelf display - very appealing.
