A spectacular hand painted portrait miniature, dated late 1700s to early 1800s, a French Revolutionary to perhaps Napoleonic Era soldier or officer, looking at the uniform, though I can't ID him and the painting is unsigned. Beautifully painted, the small-bodied man's face is a true work of portraiture art. Just look at that detail and visage. Perhaps someone will recognize our artist, and if so, please do email me Bronze frame and a slightly bombe or convex cover glass, both original, have pressured this painting well these 230 or so years.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type A brilliant dore bronze frame with gadrooned border, and it retains the hanging loop up top. The painting is slightly smallish on edges for this frame, and one can evaluate that well in our large photos. Otherwise, there isn't anything to report by way of damage nor loss to this painting. Measurements noted on photos.
