A sweet little portrait miniature painting on mother of pearl, mounted in a pendant frame of sterling silver. Found in France, it is either backed or painted upon a mother of pearl wafer. I have not taken it out of frame to be sure which. I'd date it Belle Epoch, turn of 20th century to as late as perhaps 1920. Could be much earlier. No clothing by which to distinguish era and silver is unmarked. Mother of pearl wafers seemed popular mid-1800s, Victorian era.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Cover glass is slightly convex, polished and original. The silver is thick, seems to have been one which might have once had a glass on backside, too. Uncertain. Measurements are noted on the photos.
