Delightful antique to vintage European birdcage mechanical music box, an automaton type with working music box and moving bird in a polished brass 11-12" tall cage! This one just in from France but I'm not seeing any markings on it so hard to say just where and when it came from. We've had the pleasure to offer a few of these over the years, this one not quite as fantastic as some but quite nice in that it's working and with little to no damage to note. A colorful little bird, perched inside and swivels its head and bats its tail feathers as the whistling song plays. See video, not quite a melody but just as charming as can be.
Very good condition. I see no damage to the cage framework or base, the bird's feathers are a bit tattered and we're not sure if the leaves inside are original or a later addition/replacement. As noted, the music box does work and the bird figure does move. See images for all measurements.
