This is an antique Victorian era rosewood veneer box with mother of pearl inlays on the lid. The inlays are visible in the photos and include stringing, oval cartouche on the lid, and escutcheon. They are all intact. The rosewood veneer is in wonderful condition without drying cracking, missing pieces, or warping. The interior appears to have a newer teal colored velvet lining, though it may be original, we're thinking it's newer and has small compartments fastened around the sides and back. The key was with the box when we found it and it works though is a bit touchy. An elegant decorative box. We have these grouped and displayed on our coffee table, gorgeous and always a conversation topic.
Very good condition, as stated above. Gorgeous rosewood veneers and, with the immaculate interior, perfectly usable. Circa 1890's. See pictures for all measurements.
