Fine, beautifully preserved antique Victorian era tole or toleware coal scuttle with original brass hinges, handle & door pull, inner removable coal pin and colorful hand painted floral decoration complete with artist or painter’s signature! The signature appears to read “Miralle Goumory" or "Goumon” though I could be mistaken, the front door and sides with vibrant floral ‘bouquets’ and the entire piece is in remarkable shape given its age. The original inner removable bin is intact, as is the porcelain handled shovel or scoop resting in the pocket on the back. A fine decorative piece!
Very good condition. Age & materials considered. There are some edge nips to the black painted exterior, some rust showing in those places. There is also some age tarnish to the brass handle and hinge, etc.. The scoop or shovel has the original porcelain or pottery handle but it has some chipping to the top, a piece or two re-glued and some chips missing. See pictures for measurements.
