Remarkably well-preserved, this is a mid-1800s hand painted Old Paris porcelain "vide poche", literally translates to "empty pocket", and it would have been on a bedside table or perhaps a mantel or desktop, used overnight to hang one's pocket watch (see watch hook up top) and deposit jewelry and contents of pockets overnight as one slept. This one has painted pressed brass leaves and flowers on the decorative brass ormolu framework, and a painting of an 18th century Romantic genre scene. Full measurements are noted on the photos. Found in France, of course.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, there are no flaws to even note. No chips, no losses to the metal but perhaps a tiny bit of the applied paint. No scrapings that would indicate the little painted bowl ever held coins. Very nicely kept.
