A beautiful young woman from the c.1800-1810 French Empire period. Blond and blue-eyed, a lace-accented French Empire gown and a flirty sidelong glance with slight smile for her artist, who has not signed the work. A blue shawl and blue-tint background accents her eyes. Very pretty. The wooden inner mat is a bit unusual, but holds the original convex cover glass and perfect little painting in place very well. Sealed from the back, probably after a glass cleaning maybe 100 years ago. I did not open it so photos are taken through the convex glass. I think she's prettier in person.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. Wood frame houses the painting with a recessed rabbit backing and has a mat of wood rather than brass. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
