Charming & rare antique French hallmarked Napoleon III era .800 to sterling silver powder, puff box or compact with enamel dialed clock or watch in the lid! No markings that I can find other than the 'AP' maker mark (possibly for Veuve Roberge) and tiny French boar's head hallmarks, designating at least 800/1000 silver content (80% pure or finer solid silver). Ornate scrolling repousse style decoration and all in wonderful condition! Clock in the lid, a unique addition and possibly a gentleman's vest pocket watch & snuff box! Perfect for the collectors!
Very good condition! No dents or damage to the silver box, just a bit of tarnish amidst the decoration giving it a near niello look :). The watch or clock is currently not working, it seems to stop after a bit and may need just a simple adjusting & oiling. There is one chip to the enamel face, on the concealed inside edge and not visible through the crystal (only when removed). See pictures for measurements.
