Seems more like elegant jewelry, but of course it is from some elegant sewing or writer's set. Looks like the 18th century French ones, but is not 18k as it would then be, and it has a '14k' mark on inside lip. Acid-tested at 14k, as well. The extra large etui if it is a needle case, or slender and delicate case if it held sealing wax losenge and is meant to be used as a wax seal (no engraving on the matrix end - ready to be monogrammed for you). Just beautiful with all the seed pearls encircling and trimming it out. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition, as you can see. There is not a monogram on this one. It's large for a needle or bodkin case, and is made like the sealing wax or 'sceau' etui inside which would be a long stick of sealing wax. I see no flaws to note. Very beautiful.
