Elegant antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era sterling silver "ecuelle", legumier or serving dish in superb condition with classical style foliate accented side handles, ornate interlaced "BD" or "DB" monogram and wonderful condition! A very alluring and unique piece, the bowl itself has a 5 3/8" diameter and is just under 8.5" wide with those gorgeous handles! Fine old French sterling silver and all in fabulous condition! The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark on the side of the bowl, within that mark is the tiny number "1" that designates .950 silver content (95% pure silver, higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). The silversmith mark is for Henri Louis Chenailler, Paris circa mid to late 19th century. A wonderful piece, simple enough to fit into an existing fine silver service but unique enough to stand out and attract compliments!
Very good-excellent condition. A tiny dimple or two possible but, as you can see, they don't come much finer! See pictures for measurements.
