She is truly exceptional as a small work of art. The artist, unfortunately, has not signed this museum piece portrait miniature and all we have for ID are the 2 Paris of initials flanking this elegant woman of means. A bride? An anniversary? We can't know her story nor that of the painting. Her fashion and hair place the portrait between 1820-30. The unique fine quality wood grain, burled and polished, of her frame befits the portrait. Measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. She is 200 years or nearly so, that moment in time captured here. The painting is stunningly fine. The wafer is undamaged, still has paper backing and the original convex cover glass. I found her in France. I love these paintings and am fascinated over and over at the artists who made them.
