Purchased in France, and even now I'm unsure if it was French crafted or Italian. Very nice quality, harkening back to the Louis Kings, but it's 19th century, likely Napoleon III era. Elegantly carved and well preserved, it's large enough to act as a wall-mounted side table mounted near your favorite chair, or to display your large ceramic to bronze whatever. The elongated scalloped top of the shelf is 12" widest and 8" at deepest point, quite versatile size. Clock? Yes, of course. Lots of photos to show it off. Gorgeous old thing, acting like it's 1700s.
Very good to excellent for age and type, it is carved entirely of wood, but is not solid, so not as heavy as the earlier (c.1700s) ones. It has a relatively thin backing of wood, and is ready to mount. I don't think it has any chips nor hairlines, nor cracks. Take a look, decide where it fits in your home. It is 17" top to bottom, very nicely carved, indeed.
