Very good condition for age and type. No serious chips on the old wood. The white trim has one chipped curlicue there above and to the right of the M on the top of the box, and a tip at the far right, as well. One of the carved cabochons is also gone there adorning the escutcheon surrounding the keyhole. The interior is the old original silk moire, but it has some damage which we've shown you in our images. It is so tempting to re-line it in creamy white silk moire, instead, and it's a simple job to do it if you decide to. Would be just stunning. But here it is as we have found it. A true work of artisan's skill, rises to fine art. The box is not perfect, but it is so appealing and unusual, I just couldn't pass it by.
