The perfect and nice and large wall shelf to display your favorites, this one is a 19th century Kingwood parquet of glorious Louis XV-XVI aesthetic, heavy cast dore bronze appliqué and trims, and unique pillars of triangular porcelain posts, 8 in all, mounted with ormolu. Delicate hand painted florals on all 3 faces of the triangular porcelain mounts, they can be turned to the front display you prefer, flat side front, or edge front so 2 side of the triangle can be seen. The old wood is just truly magnificent, satin finish and has a glow to it. I have used no flash on these photos, just Zambian indoor light, mid day with an east window. Even that makes it show off well. I've put a few Antiques & Uncommon Treasure inventory pieces on it to show how it might look with your own collection. The 3 shelves are generous in size and will display a good sized collection in such pretty manner. Portrait miniatures would be fabulous on it, or certainly you'll have just the pieces you'll want so elegantly displayed. It extends 8.5" out from the wall, so maybe hanging above a chest or in a master bath, somewhere off the traffic way of your home. A clock collection would also be gorgeous on it, huh!
Very good to excellent for age and type. While it's in a style you will think of as Louis XV-XVI, It is a 19th century cabinetry creation, I'd say mid-1800s from the backside. The porcelain sections (8 in all) are perfect. No chips, no cracks. The ormolu appliqués are complete and intact throughout, none missing. The veneers are also fully intact, though there is one smallish bubble-ish spot on that bottom shelf which has a rise to it (see it as a shine spot catching light). The very old hardware remains on back for permanent hanging. A display apparatus hanger is there just to prevent me making a permanent mount for the photos. And, yes, I am very tempted to find a spot for it in my own home. When you do hang it in yours, be sure to do so using the heavy-duty old mounts, as the temporary one is not (IMO) strong enough if you intend to load shelves. Isn't it fabulous! Full measurements are noted on the photos.
