I apologize that I do not know a thimble size, but I've given you the measurements. Gorgeous antique French 18k gold thimble, thick gauge so no poke-throughs on end like one sees on English gold thimbles. The thimble box shown with it will stay, but it is not original to it and is an English presentation case of excellent quality, about the same period, c.late 19th century to perhaps earliest 1900s. Found in France, yes. Measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition, both thimble and leather thimble presentation case (it is not original to this French thimble and is an English case. It's how I bought it, but I suspect the thimble is a salvage from an elaborate French sewing necessaire, or kit - perhaps Palais Royal. I can see a monogram but I can't make it out. I've enlarged it for your full inspection. No bends or dents - fits my fingers and I wear a size 6 ring. It's not tiny. There is a goldsmith's tiny punch but I can't make it out. Case is excellent, too. Please note: I've shown it against some 200 year old silk embroidery pieces and with other sets we have - this thimble and case are what you're buying. The other things are just for the beauty, ambiance and to help you imagine it in your own collections.
