Unusual antique (mid-1800s) French (or possibly Bohemian) opaline scent caddy, large at 6 1/8" x 4 1/2" and nearly 5" tall, and with original 6 scent bottles still inside. Heavy old c.1850 thick opaline in white, top and bottom, the bottom half is and was originally upholstered in fine old leather. Hand painted cartouche on top against a pale peach ground. Very pretty! Just in from France. I am 85% sure it is a French caddy. Unusual though, is possibly Bohemian.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, amazing to find it with all 6 original scent bottles intact to even the stoppers (all but 1). The old leather-clad bottom is really quite elegant and definitely original. Age to the leather, but no real flaws there. Small flaws: neck inside one bottle is broken, but cap hardware works and it is tightly adhered - that 1 stopper missing. One side handle missing. No chips, no breaks. Working lock, no key at listing time.
