Well-listed artist: Hippolyte CHAPON (c.1790- (after 1838), miniaturist. The painting is superb, a beautiful but unidentified woman, her portrait done in 1826. A slender waist and elegant coiffure and gown, height of fashion in her time. Chapon's signature is there to the left of her face. Chapon miniatures available and recently sold through major auction houses price $2500 range and up. Superb investment collection quality, museum quality. She is in her original and quite exceptional frame, ready to hang. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, not quite 200 years old. Wafer is excellent, no hairlines, no cracks, no chips, though you see a couple tiny rubs outer perimeter which are from the frame and completely covered by the frame. Slightly convex and original cover glass remains in pristine condition, as well. No warp, no flaking - a superior work by an artist who achieved fame in his own time, and remains very well sought after.
