Wonderful antique Victorian era 12 1/4" Black Forest hand carved altar style wall frame with ornate reticulated style, foliate accenting and beautifully displaying a miniature genuine carved ivory Christ figure! The ivory figure is a mere 2 3/4" tall but as detailed as a lot of the larger works you see. Shown with His eyes closed, in a slack expired positioning. Mounted on a carved wood cross, set on a replaced red velvet mat (very old fabric used so as to maintain the original look). A beautiful piece, don't miss it!
Very good condition. Breaks to both feet, a small portion missing from the right foot and missing a few fingers (not unheard of, most on display in Notre Dame and the Louvre have something missing, damaged or restored). There is a visible split in the wood frame but it's strong and secure. A chip to the left side of the cross finial (top of frame). See pictures for measurements.
