Dinner for two! With impression marks for Thèodore Haviland, French porcelain makes from Limores regional artisans, are heavily and beautifully encrusted in bas relief sculpted gold against a ground of cobalt or Sévres blue. They are being sold as a pair - we've all come to see a dinner for 2 as quite normal, haven't we, and yet it need not be less elegant than a larger dinner party. Diameters: 24.8 cm, or 10".
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type aside. There are no utensil marks, no evidence they've even been in use. The gold enamel encrustation is exquisitely crafted and has no flaws to note. No flaws to the dark blue, which is perhaps just shy of cobalt. These appear to have been cabinet plates only, and are truly superb. No crazing, nothing!
