Fabulous PAIR of antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era sterling silver double open salt, condiment or sweetmeat caddy, elegant with aesthetic styling, scrolled cabriole style feet, thick wheel cut crystal or glass wells and both in wonderful condition! Both pieces, bases, feet, well fixtures and handles are in a wonderfully simple yet elegant shape with what is often described aesthetic style ornamentation represented in the tall center handle and serpentine shaped bases, very attractive! The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark in several visible areas, the tiny number "1" within those marks designating .950 silver content (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). The silversmith marks are mostly obscured but the one I've shown in the images looks a lot like an "O" and we all know that would be for Maison Odiot, one of the most sought after French silversmiths and maker to royalty. A beautiful PAIR, don't miss them.
Very good condition. A tiny nip or two possible to the glass wells but no chips, cracks or other damage. The sterling silver bases and handles are also in great shape with no dents, damage or repairs. A slight bit of darkened spots on the mirror-like surface/panel just under the wells and a bit of age tarnish in the recessed areas. See pictures for measurements.
