Exceptional & rare antique French Napoleonic era sterling silver 12 5/8" serving utensil or implement with ornate reticulated blade, engraved decoration & dolphin figure, 1798-1809 hallmarks and fabulous condition! Isn't this one gorgeous! Likely a fish serving piece, the mythological dolphin figure represented on the blade and also the silver portion of the handle. Solid French sterling silver blade, the hallmarks are of the Coq or Cock and date the piece between 1798 to 1809. The turned walnut handle unscrews easily for cleaning. Silversmith marks are there and appear to read "LB", possibly for but I can't be certain. A truly superb old French sterling silver serving piece, don't miss it!
Very good-excellent condition. No dents, damage or repairs to the sterling silver blade. There is a small chip or two to the end of the turned wood handle but that's it, amazing considering its over 200 years! See pictures for weight and measurements.
