Delightful antique French Victorian or Napoleon III era 10 tall blackamoor style camel, a smoker's stand or cigar presenter with match holder up top and mother of pearl half "egg" spent match dish pannier! A cold or tole painted camel figure, mostly in black with antique gold accenting, ring and chain from muzzle to the pannier fitting. The small glass cup in the top surely for matches, the mother of pearl dish likely meant as a receptacle for the spent matches. The fittings hold up to nine roughly 1/2" cigars. Remarkable in its rare function, we've had these in the past that held liqueur barrels with collections of small cordial or goblets, this one for cigars and as fine as can be!
Very good condition. The glass cup is a later replacement and there is a small chip/crack to the mother of pearl dish where it meets the strap over the camel's back but it's secure. Some wear, fading or age to the black & gold finish on the figure and some age/tarnish spots to the brass base/plinth. The base is weighted with plaster, the black has been restored there.
