Rare antique French perfume caddy, Palais Royal c.1820-40, blue opaline scent bottle, thatched hut with bees, flowers in ormolu. Original set but missing stopper. One of the rarest forms, rarely found complete with the original scent bottle, which is slightly flared at shoulder and fits perfectly in the caddy which is also slightly flared toward the opening. It is nearly 5" high overall, measurements in full are on the photos.
Very good to excellent for age and type, again, rare to find with the original perfume flask still within. It is missing the stopper which would have been inside, but no chips on lower bottle, displays beautifully. There's a small dent on the hinged lid. While all of the hand painted ormolu leaves remain on their vines, and 2 of the bees, there is one bee missing. You see it pointed out on photos, 2 tiny holes into which the metal pins of the bee would have attached it. Not really noticeable, and as noted, in finer condition than any we've seen.
