Elegant & rare antique French hallmarked sterling silver & twisted horn 14 5/8" long wine or punch serving ladle! We've had these in the past, only a few though. Hard to find, I'm guessing it's because of their relatively delicate nature...not all that likely to survive the 100+ years in the condition that this one has. Both the bowl and stem bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark appears to be "PC" flanking a fireplace bellows but I've not found reference to it as of listing. Delicate, beautiful!
Very good condition. I see no real notable damage or repairs to the silver, some very slight dimpling possible but no larger dents. As you can see in the images, the twisted horn handle appears to have come slightly "un-twisted". That might result from excessive heat or moisture I assume, no breaks though. See pictures for measurements.
