Heavy, massive & RARE antique Gorham hallmarked sterling silver 10.25" bonbonniere with ornate reticulated or pierced scrolling tendrils & foliage, S-curved handle, marvelous condition and immense visual & decorative appeal! AND, this is #2 or two matching pieces that we're offering this week. Sold separately in case you're only looking for one but separating pairs and sets is difficult so we're hoping they go to the same appreciative home. A candy, confection or similar serving piece, I've read that the curve of the handle near the bowl would rest on the server's (butler perhaps) wrist while the handle held by the other hand. Of course, it's also set up to be a free standing piece with a flattened base to the bowl and handle resting on a table. Gorham hallmark, on the under side of the handle, this particular style was used in the early 1900s but I'm not seeing a symbol that would narrow the date down to the year. A huge piece, as gorgeous as they come!
Very good to excellent condition. I see no damage or repairs to note, only some slight surface scuffs or marks possible due to age and light use. The piece weighs 12.3 troy ounces, see images for all measurements.
