Elegant vintage mid-1900s American Durham hallmarked sterling silver 11 1/4" round charger or serving tray, thick & heavy with large ornate interlaced "MHW" monogram and near pristine condition! I can't be completely certain but it seems to me that this is the first ever Durham sterling piece that we've offered in our 25+ years... Durham Sterling was a mid-20th-century American manufacturer of sterling silver hollowware based in New York City. Unlike older American firms such as Gorham, Tiffany, Reed & Barton, or Durgin, Durham is not known to have produced silver in the 19th century. Most documented Durham Sterling pieces date from approximately the 1950s through the 1960s. The company specialized in tea and coffee services, bowls and centerpieces, candlesticks, goblets & decorative hollowware. Their designs tend to reflect traditional Colonial, Georgian, and Rococo Revival styles popular in postwar America.
Excellent condition. Relatively thick & heavy sterling, mirror like finish and no dents that I can see. Great to display a few old cut crystal decanters & cordials or whatever you can fit really. See images for weight and all measurements.
